ABOUT

JMS RACING SERVICES

JMS Racing Services began operations in January of 1998.  We are located in Marion, Iowa, just outside of Cedar Rapids.  Our main business is to provide management expertise and contract service for triathlons (swim, bike, run), duathlons (run, bike, run), road races, and other athletic sporting events.  We also provide chip and non-chip computerized race scoring throughout the United States.

JMS Racing Services is owned and operated by John Snitko.  John graduated from The University of Iowa with a degree in business and a major in marketing.  In Corporate America, John was in marketing for a large equipment manufacturing company.  He has been involved with the sporting community for the past eighteen years and has gained valuable experience along the way.

As a participant, he has completed road races and triathlons with varying distances of up to a marathon and Ironman.  John has worked as a volunteer for races in different capacities throughout the surrounding area.  From 1992 to 1998, John was co-owner of The Finish Line Company, a business that promoted athletic events and provided computerized scoring for races throughout the state of Iowa.  John is the co-founder and current owner of the Pigman Triathlon held in Iowa and was one of the original founders of the Ultramax Triathlon held in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.

Since 1992 we have had many challenges and have seen many rewarding moments.  In December of 2003, JMS Racing Services purchased from AMB i.t., the most state-of-the-art chip timing system available to date.  With this new technology along with our experience and dedication we are now prepared to support the expectations of our customers for many years to come.

In 2009 we purchased a new timing system from Ipico Sports.  This new system will be the main equipment used for running events timed by JMS Racing Services.  We will continue to use the AMB system for multi-sport events.

The Ipico Sports timing system has been used at many prominent active sport events throughout the world.  Boulder Boulder 10K in Colorado, one of the largest timed running events with almost 50,000 finishers was timed in 2007 and 2008 with this equipment.  In 2008, the largest ski race in North America the Birkebeiner utilized Ipico Sports as the timing equipment of choice.  Check out http://www.ipicosports.com/ for more details on this system.

The main reason for the purchase of this equipment was to accommodate for the growing number of requests for a disposable timing chip.  With Ipico Sports timing system, any level of disposability that an event would like to use is now economically feasible.
