Registration Information

Who Can Enter

Competitive and recreational runners and walkers of all ages are welcome at the Marion Arts Festival Races. The field will be limited to 1,500 participants. Note that pets are not allowed at any large community function held at a Marion park. Please do not bring a pet to the Marion Arts Festival 5K.

5K Walker - Age Group Category

For this category, participants will race against others determined by their race day age. The Age Group divisions for the walkers are as follows: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.

To enter as a 5K Walker Age Group participant you must indicate your preference during the completion of the entry form while signing up for the race.

5K Runner - Age Group Category

For this category, participants will race against others determined by their race day age. The Age Group divisions for the runners are as follows: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

To enter as a 5K Runner Age Group participant you must indicate your preference during the completion of the entry form while signing up for the race.

5K Runner - Clydesdale/Athena Category

Instead of racing against others only determined by an age, this category allows participants to compete based on their weight and age. If you are a man weighing 185 pounds plus or are a women weighing 140 pounds and over you qualify to race in one of the Clydesdale/Athena categories. The four Clydesdale/Athena divisions at the Marion Arts Festival 5K are as follows: Clydesdale 39 years old or younger, Athena 39 years old or younger, Clydesdale 40 years old and above and Athena 40 years old and above.

To enter as a Clydesdale or Athena you must indicate your preference during the completion of the entry form while signing up for the race.

NOTE: If you meet the weight requirements of this category you are not required to enter as a Clydesdale/Athena. It is up to the individual racer to select, the Clydesdale/Athena or the Age Group category. A Clydesdale/Athena will not be eligible for duplicate or age group awards.

5K Runner – Team Category

A team will consist of three individual finishers. Team racing does not replace the Age Group or Clydesdale/Athena categories. Team members still race as individuals but they now can also be scored via cross-country style for their team.

If you are not familiar with cross-country team scoring, here is how it works. If scored by hand you would go through all the results and throw out any finisher not on a team. Then you see how many there are who finished for each team. If any team has less than three finishers, they are thrown out and movement occurs again. Finally, the places of the top three finishers on each team are added up. Low score wins.

To enter as a team, you must include the team name during the completion of the entry form while signing up for the race.

Upgrade to moisture management technical shirt. Included in the registration fee is a 100% cotton race shirt.

To guarantee getting a shirt and or a specific size, registration must be received by April 20th for technical shirts and by May 11th for cotton shirts. Shirts and sizes will be available on a first-come first-serve basis after these dates.
