Marion Arts Festival Half Marathon & 5K Offer Prize Money & Giveaways

Running a half marathon or 5K for fun and the health benefits is reason enough for most people. The Marion Arts Festival Half Marathon and 5K (May 17) makes it even more fun by offering prize money in both races, as well as plenty of post-race raffle giveaways. (You can register here.)

The Half Marathon awards prize money to the overall top 5 male and female runners, as well as the top male and female masters (40+). A prize purse of $2,150 will be divided up among the top runners. The 5K pays out $1,100to the overall top 3 male and female runners and the top masters runners.

In both races, we go at least 3 deep for awards in each age division, as well as the Clydesdale and Athena divisions. Age groups are divided in 5 year increments. Plus, if you win your age group or Clydesdale/Athena division, you'll race free in 2015. Click here for details. Walkers get awards too, something many races don't do. Walker age groups are in 10-year divisions, with at least the winners of each age division getting an award.

First, every Half Marathon finisher gets a finisher's medaldesigned specially for the Marion Arts Festival race (see a picture of last year's below). There'll also be plenty of raffle prizes given away, including four fabulous purchases prizes worth $100 that you can spend on fantastic art at the Festival. And the YMCA is giving away a 1-year membership to one lucky winner.

Even if you don't get a door prize, you won't leave hungry. There's plenty of post race food, including spaghetti, bagels, watermelon, apples, oranges, bananas, cookies, and much more. Liquid refreshments include; water, HEED, pop, lemonade, ice tea and more. We'll also have Chiropractors on hand to give you a free massage. Click here for all the details.
